The Jed Stool
The perfect child-sized stool! Isn’t it beautiful? Handmade in Yorkshire by Antony Elliot, the Jed Stool was made especially for his little boy.
He said: “I made the first one in for my son, Jed, to use as a reading stool. It’s also a great stool for him to sit on to put his shoes on. And it makes a great train/car tunnel! And he uses it as a step.
“I wanted to make something beautiful that doesn’t have to be tidied away. I also wanted to make a heirloom item – something my son can pass on to his children one day.
It’s an original design by Antony, made by hand in his workshop in Wakefield from solid wood, no veneers or laminates.
No screws are used in its construction, a floating tenon is used to give strength to all the joint.
The entire stool is made from the same piece of timber, the legs are made using a waterfall technique.
Finished in osmo polyx semi-matt wax oil.
Osmo Polyx®-Oils are developed from natural oils and waxes to provide the most hardwearing and durable protection for wooden flooring and furniture.
This oil ensures the stool is:
- Extremely durable and hardwearing
- Very water and dirt resistant
- Resistant to common liquid spillages such as water, juice, tea, cola and wine
- Saliva-resistant and sweatproof
- Has a microporous, breathable finish which does not crack, peel or flake
