Did you know the most popular months to give birth are July, August and September? Hello summer babies!
So if any of your friends are due around now and you’re wondering what to get them – either for a baby shower gift, or a new baby present – here’s a handy guide, broken down by price.
Budget of £5-£10
A rattle is a great budget buy for a new baby. We love rattles that can be a fun toy when they’re tiny and just discovering grasping and holding objects, but are also designed to grow with them – like these fair-trade, knitted crochet fruit rattles. Once babies are done discovering them as rattles, this fruit can move into your little one’s play-kitchen for toddler cooking-time. Check out the carrot, the pear and the strawberry.
You can’t go wrong with muslin cloths. They’re so versatile! Excellent for cleaning up baby spills, wiping spit, using as a wash cloth, or even as a spare blanket or buggy cover when you’re out and about. These organic cotton Cam Cam muslin cloths are super soft and come in four colours.
Budget of £10-£20
Like rattles, teethers are something that babies will discover at about 3-months-old. At Little Goldie, we love wooden toys (oh, you’d noticed?) and, as wood is naturally antibacterial, its a material that makes a fantastic teether!
We also have these sweet ducky teethers, too.
Cheery pram toys are the sweetest little gift. This fun fruit gang are bright and colourful – perfect for newborns. Each has a nifty strap so it can be attached to a pram or carseat. You can choose between a pineapple, radish, apple, fig or tomato.
This beautiful, handmade wooden beads grasper comes in a little presentation box. It’s the perfect toy for a very young baby, great for when they start grasping and exploring objects. It’s painted with baby-safe paints, so it’s ok if it goes straight in their mouth!
Budget of £20-£35
Every mama needs a travel changing mat. And these are the prettiest I have ever seen! They are made of gorgeously soft, organic cotton and they roll up neatly. And, more importantly, are washing machine and dryer safe! They are seriously soft, too. What a gorgeous gift. In fact, I’d like to have another baby so I can have this a pressie, please…
They come in three colours: pink swan, mint sashiko and blue sashiko.
This handmade pillow is so soft! He’s made of recycled cashmere jumpers and has the best face, doesn’t he?
Budget of £35-£50
A teddy bear is the classic new baby gift. These Snuggly Ugly mostritos are a fun twist on that classic – made of upcycled cashmere jumpers, each one is stitched by hand. A truly special gift.
Budget of £50+
